An artistic approach
Troupe Therapy is a ground-up, cross-disciplinary artistic approach to mental health, using creative workshops that integrate visual art, dance, music, and storytelling. We intend to foster healing and collaboration by using creativity as a strategy for coping and treatment for those living with mental health conditions. Our facilitators—visual artists, dancers, poets, and musicians—will work together to inspire and teach peers in the community, addressing stigma while bringing understanding to the public about mental illness.
With a generous grant from the Colorado Health Foundation we are partnering this summer with Well Power-Next Chapter. Working in collaboration with the workshops participants we will restage our show Synesiesia for a final community event.
The role of Art in Mental Health
Creation, expression, mindfulness, self-mastery, and community are powerful tools for treating mental health issues. Movement, visual art, theatre, and music all offer an outlet to express difficult emotions and connect the mind body to work on mindfulness and healing.
